maybe they will want to read books set in a normal high school settings, because they themselves aren't in a normal high school? It's normal to everyone else, but different for them.

Well, it depends on what type of books you are looking for, but I can think of a few....I just read the series "The Alchemyst; Secrets of the Immortal Nicholas Flamel" for one of my courses. In fact, I turned one of the themes into the main subject for a thesis driven essay. You could say that The Alchemyst is like an alternative version to Harry Potter. Although it deals with destiny and magic (more alchemy than wands) it is an entirely different story. Most of it's characters, with the exception of it's twin main characters, come from true legends and myths so there is some truth to them. Also, themes such as "time is of the essence" and "there is more to this world than meets the eye" are very prevelent in the book making it easy to tie into a circulum is that is an issue. It is a good read but it is also a book that can be tied into projects. On my site I recently posted a review for the book, I'm BeyondTheCrystalShores, Feel free to look at it.

There is also the Queen's Thief series by Megan Whalen Turner. The series (so far) consists of The Thief, The Queen of Attolia and The King of Attolia...the fourth book in the series is due to come out shortly. These books are also good reads. They are set in a world not as modern or built up as ours (yet they do have pocket watches and guns), and revolve around on man, a Thief, by the name of Gen. In "The Thief" Gen is recruited by the kings Magus to steal a gem from ancient myth. The novel is full of action, comedy and story telling. It's definately worth picking up and reading.

I hope that you had luck getting your hands on some novels. :)

Mandabach!! ok...you want a book. take a look at
'How I Paid for College: A Novel of Sex, Theft, Friendship & Musical Theater' by Mark Acito.. it just might be appealing if it is, of course, school appropriate
