One day in June, my best friend and I were at our public library while my little sister was at an activity, scanning the Teen Book section, looking for something to distract myself from the boredom of a hot summer in Ohio, when I saw this book with a record on the front. Thinking about picking it up, I changed my mind, thinking about how I needed to get through Jane Eyre sometime soon, when my friend saw it and picked it up.

"Cassie, you're not going to believe this," Sarah said, pointing to the back cover- Cassie O'Sullivan in is Osama's Ho it read.

"Ha, that's pretty close, besides for the 'O'- we haven't had that on our name since the Civil War," I said, laughing when she handed it to me. When I opened the book to read the cover, my nickname and full last name stared at me. My first thought was- is this guy my stalker? as I read through it, laughing when I saw the only poet I like- Edgar Allen Poe, then something that has been bugging me since grade school- Lord of the Rings, which I can quote by heart. The That 70s Show reference set me off edge, freshman year coming back to me, when I would watch it because I was bored.

At the moment, I'm 168 pages into it, thinking about how similar the character is to myself, besides I'm not completely vegan- I refuse to eat anything pork related after talking myself into staying in Bio the day we did pig dissection. I listen to CDs and my family doesn't have a cabin in the mountains, the closest thing it that being my Pa's house in middle of no where. But some of the similarities struck me- I take walks, not telling anyone where I'm going, besides on a walk, with my dog. I write a lot and read when I'm bored. I was waiting for something that would make this even more strange- the middle names, but mine is Nicole, while hers’ is Marie.

The point of this comment was that I found it weird almost reading about myself, by my friends' description, even though I'm shorter and will never shave my head and my room is the basement of our house.

Good noveling,
Cassandra N. Sullivan.

Brian,
Thanks again for choosing American Odyssey for your school. Your book also sounds interesting, and is one I will make a point to get.
